To Anyone That Knits or Crochets Hats. Either Hand Knitting or Machine knitting. Join our fun Contest and win prizes.
Let's "Keep Maine Warm".
Our Hat Contest is continuing for 2024. Enter your hats to win some wonderful prizes. The hats are then donated to the needy in my area to help "Keep Maine Warm".
All sizes and colors can be sent. They will be greatly appreciated.
This contests judging will be in late November, 2024 so your hats need to be received by me on or before November 15, 2024.
This is what I would like to do. They don't have to be your own original pattern. Make them colorful, make them plain, make them however you desire. Any style, shape or color. I do ask that they be made from acrylic yarn or a yarn that is machine washable and dryable Enter as many hats as you would like. They can be hand knit, machine knit, crocheted, whatever method you like. Let's make as many children and needy adults as warm as possible next winter. Last year's hats went to some elementary schools, senior citizens, homeless shelters, food kitchens, local town office for Christmas Baskets and other needy citizens. You should have seen the happy faces on the children, especially when they found out they could keep them. They were worn with pride. You can send as many as you would like. I have some people sending in mittens and hats made from fleece which is very acceptable and appreciated. Anything to keep these citizens warm.
Send them to:

VERY IMPORTANT Make sure that you attach a piece of paper to your hat with your name, address, phone number and email address if you have one. Hats need to be received here no later then November 15, 2024. It really makes it difficult for the judges if you don't label them and I don't have time to do it for you.

2024 Keep Maine Warm Campaign continues. Yes, We are creating the hat contest once again. All hats need to be received by me on or before November 15, 2024. Let’s help keep Mainers warm. Remember all items sent in will be donated where needed in Maine. Check out my website to see what beautiful prizes were awarded last year. Last year we donated 799 hats, 411 pairs of mittens, 4 scarfs, 29 slippers and 18 baby items. I truly thank all of you very much for helping with this project.
From Kathryn Doubrley: #1 My 2022 challenge to knitters is to knit 100 hats along with me to contribute to the “Keep Maine Warm” campaign. As my Grandma use to say, “good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise,” I will be knitting and sending 100, also. As a matter of fact, I have challenged myself to knit all of my 100 with yarn rewound from samples. But you don’t have to do that. I’m making videos as I knit and some of those may help you with your own work. You can find them on my YouTube channel which is called: theanswerladyknits. Those who do send 100 hats will receive a $20 coupon code to use in my Ravelry store plus gratitude and respect from many sources. Please include your email address so I know where to send it.
#2 For Hand Workers whether needle knitters, loom knitters or crocheters - The person who enters the hat selected by the judges as the best hand worked entry will receive a $20 coupon code for use in the Answer Lady’s Ravelry Store. Remember to identify your hat (s) as hand worked (hand knit, hand crocheted, loom, etc) and state the method to qualify. Be sure to include your email address so you can receive your code.
#3 for all participants: a $5 coupon code to use in my Ravelry store if you include your email address with your entry so I know where to send your coupon code.
